Volunteer Youth Mentor OR Counsellor
Minimum Commitment: 4 hours weekly
Location: South Leeds and Morley
Leeds Wellbeing Project CIC is looking for compassionate and committed Volunteer Youth Mentors and Counsellors to help us provide early intervention mental health and wellbeing support to boys and young men aged 11–21 across Leeds.
Our mission is to ensure young people have access to relatable, accessible and effective support before difficulties escalate. Our approach is built around trusted relationships, lived experience, early intervention and empowerment, helping young people feel seen, heard and supported.
As a volunteer, you could provide regular one-to-one support to young people experiencing challenges such as low confidence, anxiety, social isolation, difficulties at school or other pressures affecting their emotional wellbeing.
Volunteer Youth Mentors will focus on building positive relationships, listening without judgement, supporting young people to set achievable goals and helping them develop confidence, resilience and practical coping strategies.
Volunteer Counsellors will provide appropriate therapeutic support within their level of training, competence and professional boundaries. This opportunity may be suitable for qualified counsellors or counselling students seeking an appropriate placement, subject to our requirements and supervision arrangements.
You do not need to have all the answers. We are looking for people who are reliable, approachable, non-judgemental and genuinely passionate about making a difference in young people’s lives. Relevant experience in mentoring, counselling, youth work, education or mental health is beneficial.
Due to the nature of the role, volunteers will be required to complete our recruitment and safeguarding procedures, including an enhanced DBS check, references and relevant training before working directly with young people.
By volunteering with Leeds Wellbeing Project CIC, you will become part of a community committed to helping boys and young men develop the confidence and skills to overcome challenges and build healthier, more positive futures.
